A bit of history
The old times, when members of all extreme expeditions used to carry kilograms
of canned food as well as lots of ingredients necessary to prepare food, are
gone. New technology has taken its step into the food sector and revolutionized
the ways of preparing food in extreme conditions.
Nowadays, people climbing the Himalayas, exploring the Poles, competing in offshore
races, canoeing and all kinds of travellers and globetrotters take very light
freeze-dried food with them, which in extreme conditions can be made eatable
by adding water acquired from snow or even sea water after desalination. Freeze-dried
food is also used by many armies.
